Singapore’s 61st National Day (SG61)

Academics

Beginner Group:

• Practised tracing and matching nature and weather-related words to pictures.

• Revised number counting from 10–20.

Intermediate Group:

• Learnt and practised the days of the week and months of the year for Literacy.

• Revised ordinal numbers and positional words for Numeracy.

Advanced Group:

• Practised reading comprehension skills through various Literacy exercises.

• Revised simple division concepts through written Numeracy exercises.

Thematic Learning

Students celebrated Singapore’s 61st National Day (SG61) through a variety of Singapore-themed learning activities. They explored Singapore’s landmarks, culture, food, and national symbols through interactive games and hands-on activities.

Arts & Crafts

• Created their own Singapore-themed dishes through art and craft activities.

• Made collage artwork featuring the Merlion and Singapore Flyer.

These activities encouraged creativity, self-expression, visual perception, and fine motor skills while helping students learn more about Singapore.

Activities of Daily Living (ADL)

Students participated in hands-on food preparation activities by making their own fruit bowls. They practised cutting bananas and assembling fruits, cereal, blueberries, and milk.

Students also enjoyed making their own Milo as part of their practical food preparation activities, developing independence, following instructions, and everyday living skills.

Sports & Gross Motor Skills

Students participated in target practice games such as Aim and Bounce and Toss the Bean Bag, which encouraged hand-eye coordination, aiming, body control, and gross motor skills.

They also took part in Construct Your Local Singapore Dish, combining movement, coordination, creativity, and teamwork.

Fine Motor Skills

Students practised cutting and tearing activities to strengthen their hand muscles and develop hand-eye coordination, fine motor control, and dexterity.

Overall

Students enjoyed a fun and meaningful month of Singapore-themed learning as they celebrated SG61. Through academic work, hands-on activities, arts and crafts, food preparation, sports, and fine motor exercises, students developed their academic knowledge, independence, communication, coordination, creativity, and everyday functional skills while learning more about Singapore.
